Karnataka orders schools to hold functions on Kannada on November 1

The Karnataka government has directed all schools, industries, and IT/BT companies to hoist the Karnataka flag on November 1, in honour of Karnataka Rajyotsava Day.
According to the order, both government and private schools must hoist the state flag and organise cultural programs focused on Kannada to foster love and awareness of the language among students.
While IT and BT companies are exempt from organising cultural programs, they are required to hoist the Karnataka flag on their buildings. The government has made it mandatory for these companies to document the flag hoisting by taking photographs and submitting them to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar urged all institutions including IT, factories and all establishments to hoist a Kannada flag in front of all the institutions.
“Today, I have decided, as the Bengaluru minister, I am appealing to all institutions, including IT, factories and all establishments, that on November 1, they should hoist a Kannada flag in front of all the institutions,” Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar said.

Karnataka Formation Day, known as ‘Rajyotsava’, is celebrated annually on November 1. This day commemorates the creation of the state of Karnataka on November 1, 1956, following the merger of Kannada-speaking regions in South India.
